My 1st harmonica Jingle – 1981 for Syd Kessler (thanks to Pepe Francis).

It was very interesting, since I had never done a proper session until that day. They didn’t know that though.  : )  Looking back, I realized how lucky I was that I got there a few minutes early. While standing in the hall, I was able play along while the bed-tracks were being recorded. Because of that, I managed to figure out something to play. Buy why did they keep changing the key??

During my overdubs, they kept saying “Ok, let’s move to the ’30’ now.” Then, “Now let’s move to the ’60’.” I just went along, with no clue of what they meant. All I knew was that the arrangement kept changing somewhat – including the key signature. The reasons for this were beyond my comprehension.

Fortunately, Syd liked what I played. So when I finished, and was feeling fairly confident, I stuck my head into the control room (where the marketing team and writers were!) and asked everyone in total earnest, “What’s a ’60’ and what’s a ’30’??!!”. The writer quietly leaned in very close to me and whispered, “One’s a 60 second version and one’s 30 second version”.
“Ahhhh,” I said, “that probably answers my next question – the key changes.” : )

Thank god, they liked my playing!
